StoreStudio

Privacy policy

StoreStudio runs in your browser. Your screenshot projects, images and listing drafts are saved on your device and are never sent to us. This page covers everything else: what the website records when you visit, what we keep when you buy something, and what happens when you turn on the optional features that use our service.

What stays on your device

Everything you make in StoreStudio is stored by your browser, on your computer: screenshot projects, the screenshots and images you upload, app icons, custom fonts, and Listing's saved apps, search results, drafts and notes. Exports are rendered in your browser too. None of it is uploaded to us. We cannot see it, and we cannot recover it for you: if you clear the browser's data for this site, it is gone, so download a backup from the app first.

The free tools on this site work the same way. The size validator and the character counter check your file or text in your browser; the file and the text never leave it.

When you visit this site

The site sets no cookies. Fonts, images and scripts are served from storestudio.app and app.storestudio.app.

We count visits with PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the United States. It is cookieless: nothing is written to your browser, which is why there is no cookie banner. It never identifies anyone and builds no profile of you. Your network address and browser identifier are used for a daily anonymous count, then discarded before the event is stored. There is no session recording, no heat mapping, and no automatic capture of clicks or typing. It records four things and nothing else: a page was viewed; a free tool produced a result; someone opened the editor from a page; a checkout was started, and for which plan. None of these carries who you are, what you typed, or which app you work on. When no counter is switched on, the site makes no analytics requests at all.

When you buy something

Checkout happens on Stripe's payment page, not ours. Stripe collects your email address, your card details and, for tax, your country or billing address. Card details go to Stripe and never pass through StoreStudio. Stripe keeps its own records of the payment underits privacy policy.

After a payment, Stripe tells us the email address you used, your Stripe customer reference, what you bought and when. From that we create your license: a random license key and a recovery secret. Our billing record for you holds:

  • the email address you paid with;
  • your Stripe customer reference;
  • your license key, and a scrambled copy of your recovery secret;
  • which products you bought, their payment references, and when each one starts, ends or was refunded.

It does not hold your name, your address, your card details, or anything you make in the app.

Your license key and recovery secret are saved in your browser, and the billing panel lets you download them as a file. Keep that file: it is how you restore paid features on another device or after clearing browser data.

When you use paid features

The app contacts our billing service to confirm a purchase after checkout, to renew your license about once a week, to fetch paid template packs and fonts when you use them, and to open Stripe's billing portal when you ask for it. Each request carries your license key and recovery secret and nothing else. If you are offline, the app keeps working on its last renewal for up to three weeks.

Like any web service, ours sees the network address a request comes from. We use it only to slow down abusive traffic; it is not added to your billing record.

Listing and Apple

Listing reads public App Store data. When you search for an app, open a listing, check where an app appears for a phrase, or load reviews, your browser asks Apple directly, from your own device. Those requests go to Apple, not to us: we do not see what you searched for or which app you are working on. Apple sees them the way it sees any visit to the App Store on the web.

The one exception is the Top Free and Top Paid charts. Apple's chart feed cannot be read by a browser, so the app asks our service for it. That request carries only the country, the chart and how many entries you want. It is not linked to your license, and we keep a copy of each chart for fifteen minutes so we ask Apple less often.

Daily checks and the weekly email

Both are optional and off until you turn them on in Listing. They need Suite or a Launch Pass, because our service does the checking while you are away.

If you start daily checks, our service stores, under your license key: the App Store id of your app, the phrases and countries to check, the ids of up to five competitor apps, and the results. A result is your app's position for a phrase, and whether a competitor's listing changed since the last check. For competitors we keep a fingerprint that tells us whether the listing changed, never its text, screenshots or reviews. Results are deleted after 90 days. You can stop the checks and delete everything they stored from inside the app, at any time. If your paid access lapses, the checks pause; what they stored stays readable and deletable until results expire. Check settings remain until you delete them.

If you also turn on the weekly email, once a week we send one short message to the email address you paid with: whether a tracked phrase moved five or more places, or a competitor's listing changed, and how many checks finished. It is sent through Resend, an email delivery service, which receives your address and the message. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Stopping the email does not stop the checks.

Services we rely on

  • Cloudflare hosts this site and our billing service.
  • Stripe handles checkout, invoices, tax, refunds and the billing portal.
  • PostHog counts visits, if a counter is switched on.
  • Apple provides the public App Store data that Listing reads, straight from your device.
  • Resend delivers the weekly email, if you turn it on.

Each of them receives only what the sections above describe.

How long we keep billing records

Our billing record for you is kept while your license is active and for five years after your last payment, for accounting and tax records. Daily-check results are deleted after 90 days, or sooner if you delete them. Your check settings remain until you delete them. Stripe keeps its own payment records for as long as its policies and tax law require.

Deleting your data

Anything on your device you delete yourself: remove projects in the app, or clear this site's data in your browser. Daily-check data you delete from Listing.

To request deletion, email [email protected] from the address you paid with and include your license key. We verify the request, arrange for any recurring billing to stop, and remove your operational license and scheduled-check data. This ends paid access on that license; previously renewed offline access can last until its verification expires, for up to three weeks. We retain only the payment references and product/timing records needed for accounting until their retention deadline; your email and recovery-secret hash are removed. Replication cleanup can take up to seven days. We confirm completion by email and explain any records retained. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its privacy policy.
