By device class

Choose the class that matches your app. A 6.9-inch set covers the iPhone requirement; apps that run on iPad need a 13-inch set.

Check dimensions and content

Upload errors and App Review feedback need different fixes. Check the file first, then review what the screenshots show.

File dimensions

If App Store Connect rejects the dimensions, re-export at a size listed for the selected device class.

Show the app in use

Guideline 2.3.3 asks screenshots to show the app’s interface and functionality. Include useful app screens alongside your captions.

Use appropriate platform imagery

Guideline 2.3.10 covers unrelated imagery from other mobile platforms and marketplaces. Check frames, status bars, and badges.

See Apple's App Store Review Guidelines, checked 7 September 2026.

Check your screenshot files

Drop a PNG or JPEG on the validator. It reads the dimensions in your browser, says which class the file fits, and names the closest accepted size when it fits none. Nothing is uploaded.

Common questions

What size do App Store screenshots have to be in 2026?
This reference covers 7 supported sizes across 4 device classes. 1320 × 2868 for the 6.9-inch iPhone and 2064 × 2752 for the 13-inch iPad are Studio’s default starting sizes. Read from Apple's screenshot specifications on 7 September 2026.
Do I need a separate set for every device size?
No. One set per device class is enough, and Apple marks the 6.5-inch iPhone class required only when 6.9-inch screenshots are not provided. Cover the 6.9-inch iPhone and, if your app runs on iPad, an iPad class.
Can App Store screenshots be landscape?
Yes. Apple lists a landscape entry for every screenshot size, with the same numbers transposed. Use the orientation your app is actually used in.
What file formats does App Store Connect take?
PNG and JPEG, one to ten files per size and per language. Images cannot include alpha channels or transparencies, which is why a PNG exported with a transparent background is refused at a size that would otherwise pass.
How do I know these sizes are current?
They are read from Apple's screenshot specifications, last checked on 7 September 2026, and match the export sizes supported by Studio. Apple also lists other sizes in its full screenshot specifications.
