One file or a whole set. PNG or JPEG. They are read in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

What this tool checks

The tool checks Studio’s supported export sizes and flags common PNG alpha channels. It does not review screenshot content or guarantee App Store acceptance.

  • Pixel size

Compared with 7 supported sizes. If none match, see the nearest supported dimensions.

  • Orientation

Checks both portrait and landscape versions of each supported size.

  • Alpha channel

Apple's specifications say images can't include alpha channels or transparencies. A PNG saved with a transparent background is refused at a size that would otherwise pass.

  • File format

App Store Connect accepts PNG and JPEG. Re-export other formats before uploading.

Common questions

Does my screenshot get uploaded anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser: the file is read on your device to get its pixel dimensions, and nothing is sent anywhere. An unreleased app never leaves your machine.
What size do App Store screenshots have to be?
This tool checks 7 supported sizes across 4 device classes. The 6.9-inch iPhone takes 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796, 1260 × 2736, and 1320 × 2868 is the one default iPhone size in Studio.
Can I upload screenshots in landscape?
Yes. Apple lists a landscape entry for every screenshot size, with the same numbers the other way round, 2868 × 1320 for the 6.9-inch iPhone. The validator recognises a rotated file and says which class it belongs to.
Why was my PNG refused even though the size was right?
An alpha channel may be the cause. Apple’s screenshot specifications say images cannot include alpha channels or transparencies, so a PNG exported with a transparent background is refused at the size it would otherwise pass. The validator reads the PNG header and tells you when a file carries one.
How many screenshots can I upload?
One to ten per size and language set, as PNG or JPEG. Choose screenshots that show your app’s main features.
