Check your App Store text limits
Paste your app name, subtitle, and other store-page text to see how much space remains. Keywords are counted in bytes; the other fields use visible characters. Check repeated keywords and review suggested edits before applying them.

Make room for useful keywords
Use relevant terms, separate them with commas, and avoid unnecessary repetition. Apple’s guidance is summarized below.
- Separate terms with commas
- Remove spaces after commas. Keep spaces within multi-word phrases.
- Avoid repeated terms
- Skip words already in your app name, subtitle, or category.
- Choose one form of a word
- Avoid adding both the singular and plural of the same term.
- Avoid generic and filler words
- Use specific terms instead of broad words such as “app” or “game”.
- Use symbols only when relevant
- Keep special characters for terms that are part of your brand.
- Use promotional text for updates
- Promotional text does not affect search ranking.

Common questions
- What are the app name and subtitle limits?
- The app name allows 2–30 characters. The subtitle has a separate 30-character limit.
- Are keywords counted in characters or bytes?
- This tool uses the 100-byte limit documented in App Store Connect Help. Plain ASCII letters use one byte each; accented letters, emoji, and non-Latin characters can use more.
- Do spaces and commas count?
- Yes. Separate keyword terms with commas and remove spaces after commas. Spaces within a phrase are allowed.
- How are emoji counted?
- The character fields count each visible emoji as one character. When counts differ, the tool also shows bytes and UTF-16 units. Confirm your final text in App Store Connect.
- Should I repeat words from my app name in keywords?
- Apple recommends avoiding terms already included in your app name, subtitle, or category. Use the space for other relevant search terms.
- Does promotional text affect search ranking?
- No. Use its 170 characters for updates and announcements, rather than keywords.
- Is my text saved?
- No. Your text stays in this tab and is cleared when you reload or close it. No account is needed.
