Identify where the problem occurs

An upload error usually needs a file fix. App Review feedback needs you to inspect the content and the guideline Apple cites. Read the message before changing the whole set.

Fix upload errors

Check the pixel dimensions, file format, and transparency. Export again at a supported size using PNG or JPEG, without an alpha channel. Use the size validator to identify dimension mismatches and common file issues.

Show the app in use

Guideline 2.3.3 asks screenshots to show the app’s interface and functionality. Replace slides that only show a logo, login page, or splash screen with useful app screens. Text overlays are allowed. See Apple’s metadata guidelines.

Remove unrelated platform imagery

Guideline 2.3.10 covers other mobile platforms and marketplaces. Check device frames, status bars, badges, and captions for unrelated platform references. Apple allows an exception for specific, approved interactive functionality. Read the guideline if it applies to your app.

Check the rest of the content

Use fictional account details, ensure you have rights to the images, and make additional purchases clear when showing paid features. Replace placeholders and keep the screenshots appropriate for all audiences. These requirements are covered in Apple’s review guidelines.

Review the updated set

Preview each size and language. In Studio, run pre-flight to catch missing images, low contrast, and untranslated captions. These checks help you review the design; they do not replace Apple’s review.

Upload the corrected files and respond to the issue Apple identified. Keep a note of what changed so the next release uses the corrected set.

Common questions

What does Guideline 2.3.3 cover?
Screenshots should show the app in use. Include useful screens from the app, rather than relying on title art, login pages, or splash screens.
What does Guideline 2.3.10 cover?
Keep screenshots focused on the supported Apple platform. Remove unrelated names, icons, and imagery from other mobile platforms or app marketplaces, unless covered by Apple’s exception for approved interactive functionality.
Can I include text over my screenshots?
Yes. Apple allows text and image overlays. Keep the interface visible and use captions to explain the feature shown.
Can Studio guarantee approval?
No. Studio’s pre-flight checks identify design issues such as missing screenshots, low contrast, and untranslated captions. You still need to review the content against Apple’s guidelines.
